The English Speaking World: Definition

Today, English is spoken in many countries all over the world. However, not all of them are considered to be English speaking countries.

In order to be regarded as an English speaking country, one of the following criteria has to be fulfilled:

• English is the first language
• English is one of the primary languages
• English is an official language
