Jan is
planning a trip to New York for a holiday. He needs to
contact the travel agency to make reservations for the
trip.
Here are the plans Jan has in mind. Read through them,
and then see if you can help him answer the questions
the travel agent asks about the reservations.
Jan has chosen New York for his holiday because there
is an art festival he wants to attend in Central Park.
The festival begins on August 10th at 2 o'clock in the
afternoon. Jan really wants to be there for the
opening ceremonies, but he can't leave earlier than the
10th because he has to be home on the 9th for his daughter's
birthday.
Jan's wife, Christina, will be travelling with him. Christina
is a very particular person. She is not a morning person,
and she is very allergic to cigarrette smoke. She also
likes her privacy in the bathroom. Jan has to think about
these things when he makes the reservations.
Neither Jan nor Christina like to drive in city traffic,
but they also dislike using public transportation. The
two of them really enjoy trying new food and going to
the theatre. They are hoping to find entertainment with
a minimum of transportation difficulty.
There is a holiday budget they must observe -- the money
they've saved for the trip is limited. They don't want
to carry their cash with them, so they will be using their
credit card for all of their travel arrangements.
The art festival will be over on the fifteenth of August,
but Jan thinks it would be nice to spend a few extra days
exploring the city.
