In this workshop we will be looking at the different media and
how they affect us. Among other things we will be examining the
role of media in our daily lives and in particular the idea of "media
literacy" - the ability to be able to choose and select, challenge
and question, to be aware of what is happening around us, not passively
accepting the information fed to us by the media.
You will examine more closely the four different media:
- Text - newspapers, magazines
- Audio - radio
- Visual - TV, film
- Computers - Internet
You will also take part in group work and discussions together
with other learners on the course. The media workshop will be given
twice during a term. You may attend either the first workshop or
the second.
