A few words on the literature workshop:
English literature comprises not only traditional writing from
Great Britain, but even works from the former colonies such as Africa,
Asia, North America, and Oceana. (This is called "Post-colonial"
literature and covers most authors outside of the UK!)
In the literature workshop your teacher will give you a brief introduction
to the history of British literature and on contemporary post-colonial
literature including prose and poetry. You will be discussing ideas
from the works you have read.
You will also be reading a piece of prose or poetry in class and
talking about the theme of the writing in smaller groups.
Because the written word is best experienced live, you will also
be listening to prose or poetry being read during the literature
workshop.
The day-long literature workshop will be given twice during a term.
You may attend either the first workshop or the second.
Welcome !
